Who we are....

The New York Chamber Opera is committed to building a company with a reputation for presenting  exciting new performers, premiering new chamber works by living composers and exploring the often untapped repertory of operatic composers of the past — Mozart, Rossini and Handel, to name just a few.

Our focus on this repertoire and its particular needs places us in a unique position in the New York City area.  New York has no other opera company that bridges the distance between work done in small community theatres and Lincoln Center.  We are able to present a diverse repertoire in a variety of formats — full production, concert opera, opera scenes, chamber recital — to a wide community audience in an invitingly intimate setting.  It is the goal of our productions to provide great storytelling through superlative singing, supported by strong production values and guided by creative and innovative direction.
